Reflections




What is Reflections?

Reflections is a national arts competition sponsored by the National PTA which is held in October. The children are challenged and encouraged to produce an original, artistic entry via literature, music composition, photography, visual art, dance choreography or film/video production. The most imaginative interpretation of a theme through any one of these mediums is the object of the program.


How Do I Do This?

Step 1 - Think about the Theme .. 'Beauty is..'  What is it to you?
Step 2 - Decide how you would like to express yourself

A Note from our 2009 -2010 Reflections Committee

            

Dear Wolftrap Community,

School will be starting before we know it and to kick off the school year the PTA will be sponsoring the Reflections Arts program once again.

 The PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas: dance choreography, film prod uction, literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).

The 2009-10 Reflections Program Theme this year: Beauty is...!

Students submit artwork to their local PTAs. Works are judged at the local level and the winning entries advance to the council, district, region, and/or state PTA levels, depending on the state structure. Top state award–winning entries advance to the national level of judging. For more information go to PTA.org and click on Reflections.

So enjoy the rest of your summer. If something should strike your child as beautiful have them start thinking about the Reflections theme, Beauty is...! and get their creative juices flowing. Be on the look out for more details and the rules and regulations once school starts. Thank you.
