Books! The Magic is Real! - Joe Romano

September 17, 2008

"Books! The Magic is Real!" is an exciting production that brings books to life through the art of magic and illusion. This spectacular production will ignite a passion for reading all through the school year! The show features dynamic music, dazzling illusions and outstanding literature. Your students will witness breath-taking feats of magic using characters and plot lines from " Harry Potter", "Dr. Seuss" , "How to Eat Fried Worms" and more!  Joe Romano has worked with literally every major theme park in the country including Universal Studios, Knotts' Berry Farm, Six Flags, and Walt Disney Cruise Lines. He has appeared with Larry King, Celine Dion, and Ricky Martin. Romano started writing educational programs in 1990, and since that time his productions have appeared in over 3000 different elementary schools.

Curtis Blues

December 9th, 2008

This show expresses the singers own lifetime of research in the history of blues.  From the African Gourd Banjo carried over on slave ships, to the one string "diddley bow" and home made cigar box guitar, and then on to the metal resonators guitars popular in the 1930's. All the instruments played by the early bluesmen before the electric guitar drowned out the acoustic guitar.

Traveling Science Show (from the Franklin Institute Science Museum)
February 10th, 2009

This year the show is entitled “Motion and Machines.” Students will learn more about the many machines that they use every day. The focus will be on the basic physics of motion. Using rubber balls, bricks, and wooden blocks, Newton’s laws of motion will be introduced. These laws will come to life through demonstrations with a lever, pulley, and student-driven hover car. We hope the show will inspire students to think about their own great scientific experiments to present at the Edison Expo a month later on March 10. http://www2.fi.edu

Improv4Kids
June 11th, 2009 at 7:00pm

This final cultural arts show will be an evening presentation held in the gym. A New York-based improvisation troupe, Improv4Kids, will provide entertainment for the whole family. Co-founders Walt Fraser and Laurice Fattal established Improv4Kids in 2004 to bring a new and fresh concept to young audiences through the art of improvisation, music, storytelling, dance pantomime, and theater. The idea is to allow children to learn about comedy while actively participating in the creative process. Improvisation develops unscripted and unplanned skits into comedy acts based on audience suggestions. We expect a fun and funny night at Wolftrap.

Reflections

What is it?  Reflections is a national arts competition sponsored by the National PTA.  The children are challenged and encouraged to produce an original, artistic entry via literature, music composition, photography, visual art, dance choreography or film/video production. The most imaginative interpretation of a theme through any one of these mediums is the object of the program.
