The colorful gardens surrounding our elementary school are supported by the PTA and community volunteers. Anyone can partake in the beautification of these gardens; scout groups, daisy groups, students, local businesses, moms, dads, and grandparents. If you have any interest, please contact Gina Buhrman at gardens@wolftrappta.org.
Last fall, some students of Wolftrap went on an insect exploration at the Native Grass Hillside (near the playground) with our local & knowledgeable volunteer Elizabeth Burke. They observed and recorded what insects or wildlife they see (butterflies, pollinator bees, praying mantis, grasshoppers, chipmunks) and how they use and live in our gardens. Some students created a field guide to the insects and wildlife at Wolftrap Elementary just like real field researchers.
The Gardens at Wolftrap are possible because of our friends who donated equipment, supplies, and a lot of hard work digging in the dirt. We thank all of you for your help.
